Broken Barriers
Dr. Martin Luther King holiday should remind us to not look, judge or treat a person because the color of their skin. As our forefathers said, “All men are created equal.”
“Who (God) wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:4).
- all – Greek the word for “all” is “πᾶς” pronounced “pas,” which means each, every, any; any and every; all
- men - Greek word for “men” is “ἄνθρωπος,” pronounced “anthropos,” meaning a human being, whether they are male or female. Men means a person of either sex
The Good News is that God wants everyone regardless of his or her skin color, culture, race (e.g. – Jew or Gentile), and sex to be saved from eternal separation from Him. God does not take any pleasure in the death of the wicked or of anyone (Ezekiel 18:23; 32).
Like Dr. Martin Luther King helped break the color barrier in American Society, Jesus broke even a bigger barrier, which was our separation from God as a result of our sin (Romans 6:1-14). Jesus’ death on the cross broke the barrier of sin and death for those who put their trust in Jesus Christ.
God wants are who are wearied and burdened to come to him and he promises they will find rest in him (Matt. 11:28-30). For God tells us, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened” (Matt 7:7-8).
Remember, God will not exclude anyone from spending eternity with Him because of his or her color. Just as God does not discriminate, neither should we. Live a life above reproach and love your neighbor as Christ loved the church.
Excellent blog. It’s like reading a devotional. Thought provoking and educational. I like:)
