All We Need Is a Mustard Seed of Faith

January 23, 2011

Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”  Each and every day our faith in God will be tested. This has been the case since the beginning of time.  We see Noah build a huge boat (Genesis 6:14) on faith.  Can you imagine what his neighbors thought about him? Abraham’s faith was tested when God asked him to sacrifice his only son (Genesis 22:1-18). Job’s faith was tested when God let Satan take away everything from him but his faith did not waiver for Job said, “ “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised” (Job 1:21).

We also see the testing of faith in the story of David vs. Goliath (1 Samuel 17). It has been said that a picture can be worth a thousand words, well check out the picture below because David had to have great faith in God to take on Goliath. Either that or he was completely crazy.

Friends, if God has helped so many people persevere for His glory since the beginning of time, like Noah, Abraham, Job and David He will do the same for us today. Jesus says, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you”  (Matthew 17:20-21).

Today lets pray that God will continue to increase our faith in Him and that it will be unwavering no matter the circumstance or trial.
